The Deacons at FPC Westminster

The Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church are chosen by the congregation for three year terms as required by the Book of Order. These servants of God quietly minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and the outside community. They collect food for the needy, flowers for the worship service, write to those in military service, care for the elderly, prepare and help serve communion, and hundreds of other tasks.

The Deacons meet at 11:30 am on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

Money, food, clothing and other suitable gifts can be given directly to the Deacons for distribution to shut-ins and the needy.

Some deacons tasks

:: Visit the ill and shut-ins
:: Deliver the altar flowers on Sunday to the shut-ins
:: Provide meals if needed
:: Provide funeral receptions
:: Give Shut-ins cookies at Christmas
:: Assist in serving Communion
:: Prepare and distribute Christmas food baskets and toys for kids
:: Food pantry for the needy on Wednesday afternoons
