The Westminster Colony was founded in September of 1872 when our first pastor Reverend Lemuel Peterson Webber obtained about 6,500 acres of land on which he dreamed of building a temperance colony for Presbyterians. The colony was named Westminster in honor of Reverend Webber's admiration for the Westminster Assembly of 1642, which prescribed the basic concepts of the Presbyterian Church.
